Diabetic Association of India, West Bengal chapter started its activity with a mission of increasing awareness about diabetes among patients with diabetes and their family members, population at risk of diabetes as well as health care workers. Starting with a very few prominent physicians including Professor B.R Sengupta as president and Dr. S.R Jana as secretary with few other patrons, the organization gradually grew up with increasing number of members. In the year 1993, the association became autonomous and continued to focus on patient care and academic activities relentlessly.
